BLITZ SEASON 3 Format

PHASE 1:

OPEN QUALIFIERS

Phase 1 features two qualifiers, each with open and closed stages. The entry fees are $35 for a single qualifier pass, $50 for a double pass, and $75 for a bundle that includes both qualifiers and entry into RIOT. Each qualifier begins with an open stage held over two days, consisting of eight rounds of Swiss-format best-of-one matches. Teams are eliminated after four losses, and the top 16 advance to the closed stage. The closed stage is a 16-team single elimination bracket with seeding based on Swiss performance. All matches in the closed stage are best-of-three. The top four teams from each qualifier move on to Phase 2.

PHASE 2:
GSL

Phase 2 includes the eight teams that advanced from Phase 1, divided into two groups of four. Each group competes in a GSL-style double elimination bracket. Opening matches are best-of-one, while winner, loser, and decider matches are best-of-three. Two teams from each group, for a total of four, qualify for Phase 3. Matches follow a rolling schedule and begin each day at 6 PM EDT.

PHASE 3:
GSL

Phase 3 features eight teams, with four invited teams joining the four that qualified from Phase 2. The teams are split into two groups of four, competing in GSL-style double elimination brackets. Opening matches are best-of-one, while all other matches are best-of-three. The top two teams from each group advance to Phase 4. Matches begin at 6 PM EDT and follow a rolling schedule.

PHASE 4:
SINGLE ELIMINATION

Phase 4 is the final stage and includes eight teams, with four invited and four qualifying from Phase 3. The format is single elimination. Quarterfinals and semifinals are best-of-three, while the grand final is best-of-five with infinite overtime. Each quarterfinal pairs an invited team with a Phase 3 qualifier. Matches start at 6 PM EDT and proceed on a rolling schedule.
